Do ask if we can assist in any way. We are here to help and advise, give condition reports, and generally make the auction sale days pleasurable and fun. Please contact us with any queries you may have.
It is hoped that your purchasing will be enjoyable and straightforward. Please ask staff if you have any queries regarding an item or its likely price. The estimates are guide prices only. Please register before the sale in order to get a Bidding Number. Your account will then be prepared in your name at the reception office. Goods can be collected during the sale from the collections counter. Back to top
If you cannot attend the sale, we will be delighted to bid on your behalf, and there is no charge for this service. Please fill in a green Bid Form and it will be executed as cheaply as possible, subject to other bids and vendor's reserves. Similarly, if you have to leave during actual auction and would like to leave a bid on something being sold later on that day, ask a porter to bid on your behalf using a Bid Form, or hand the Bid Form in at reception. If you cannot attend the sale, you may be able to bid on the telephone for lots. The number of telephone lines is limited and they need to be booked in advance, and will be issued on a first come first served basis. Back to top
The following bid increments will usually apply:
Any postal, fax, internet or bids that have been telephoned in for this sale that contain odd figures will be rounded up to the nearest bid increment. Back to top
A Buyer's Premium of 15% will be charged to the purchaser on the hammer price; this Premium is subject to VAT. Back to top
Since February 2006, the law requires resale royalties be paid to living artists in the EEC for pieces fetching over 1000Euros. Works sold above this threshold will therefore be subject to an additional levy of 4% of the hammer price. This royalty is administered and collected by the Design & Artists Copyright Society (DACS), and further information can be obtained from their website www.dacs.org.uk. Back to top
By cheque, debit or credit card or cash. Buyers unknown to us are advised to make arrangements before the sale for references, as cheques must be cleared before purchases can be removed. Back to top
All purchases should be paid for on the day of the auction, and collected as soon as possible on the day of the auction, or by arrangement with the auction office. Please note that all goods not collected promptly will be removed into store and these items will incur carriage and storage charges. All clearing is at the purchaser's risk and expense, although our staff will assist as much as possible with packing and carrying. If you have any queries about collections, or are delayed in picking up purchases, please contact the office. Back to top
We may be able to post and pack successfully purchased items, but cannot be held responsible for any damage that occurs to the goods once they become the purchasers property. A reasonable packing charge will be made to cover this service and the materials used, plus the level of postage and insurance that you require. Things take time to get sorted and totally unpacked after an auction, so please allow time for your parcel to be dealt with. Back to top
